I have never heard of this place. I saw the restaurant posting in South Jersey Food Scene on Facebook. I needed a halfway from Millville to the shore idea to meet a girlfriend for dinner. She suggested Merrill's. Service was very friendly. We sat at the bar and ate. The atmosphere has character. I will definitely check this place out again.

We had dinner here for the first time!! It was delicious, cozy and welcoming! It's hard to believe that we have never stumbled upon this hidden gem! The employees were professional and provided outstanding service. Food was fresh and authentically Italian!

The real deal Italian food, prepared with love, simply delicious! Recipes are family jewels that have been passed down since 1959. The actual neighborhood restaurant is a house with a full bar on the other side. You feel like you're at home for sure. Angel, the current owner/chef/baker took the time to sit down with us and share her childhood experiences as the daughter of the man behind the name. Although her father is no longer with her, you know he's still around in spirit. She has a genuine, exciting and "burst of life" personality that we could feel, enjoy & love! We started off with their dressed house salad and hot from the oven perfectly baked loaf of bread. Yum! Now, be patient because if you come during a busy time, you'll be waiting a little, but you'll understand why when your food arrives. Ashley, our busy waitress was extremely busy, but took of all guests within a reasonable time. I enjoyed the veal parmigiana, a huge portion of the most tender & delicious veal that I've had in a long time. The sauce was superb as I enjoyed with the nicely portioned spaghetti that came as my side. Hubby, raved on Angel's spaghetti and meatball dish! A very nice portion indeed! Now, as we listened each time the waitress told each table of the desserts that evening, we knew we had to leave room. So we opted for the pistachio key lime pie, I know right!...Angel's masterpiece of one of the best key lime pie we've had! So, I made the decision to take home a piece of her coconut Creme pie/cake...AMAZING!!!! But even though I had made up my mind, Angel had already come from the kitchen with my gift...wow, thank you, Angel! Yes, we'll be coming back!!!

The restaurant looks like an old house with terrible decor. However, the food was delicious and the portions were generous. The owner is a riot with a foul mouth. I don't offend easily, so if you're sensitive, this might not be your place.

As a couple of reviews have stated, this is an old school/throwback bar/restaurant and that's great. Very unpretentious with a nice staff and funny/sarcastic owner. There were four adults and one child at the table for our night out. They provided my grandson with a nice high chair which was great. Before dinner they provide us bread and a large shareable salad for the table. The salad, although basic in its ingredients, was very refreshing and the dressing was delicious. The bread was warmed long rolls which were fine. The dinners consisted of 2 chicken parms, 1 shrimp parm, and 1 eggplant parm, all coming with spaghetti. This was the second time at Merrill's for my daughter and son-in-law and they decided to order the chicken parms again because they were so good. My wife had the eggplant parm which she enjoyed. Which leaves the shrimp parm for me. It was really good. The coating on the shrimp was perfect, not too heavy, and had a reasonable amount of cheese on top. Some places like to overly smoother their parm with cheese, but not here and I liked that. The spaghetti and sauce were also very good. For dessert, my wife and I got the apple cake. We took a few bites then packed it for home to finish it off. It was so delicious, nice and moist. Overall, the meal and service was very good and will definitely be back. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that they don't accept cards (cash only) which I don't like to carry anymore.
